What defines this style?
Portrait work focuses on recognizable facial proportions, expression and the relationship between light and shadow. It may depict a loved one, a religious figure or an illustrated character. This gallery includes realistic and stylized interpretations so you can explain the treatment you prefer.
Ideas and design direction
The strongest reference is usually a clear photograph with a distinct expression and readable features. Think about whether the portrait should stand alone or include a name, flowers, dates or another meaningful element. Supporting details should reinforce the main image without crowding the face.
Planning your tattoo
Send the original photograph when possible, rather than a screenshot of a screenshot. Tell us the approximate size and placement before choosing very fine facial details. An artist can discuss cropping, background removal and the amount of space needed for a readable interpretation. Memorial wording and dates should be checked carefully by you before the design is finalized.

Questions before you book
Can you work from an old family photograph?
Send the clearest version available. An artist needs to assess whether the lighting and visible detail are suitable; some photographs may need a different crop or an alternative reference.
Do portrait tattoos need to be large?
There is no single size for every portrait. Complexity, placement and the reference all matter. Ask an artist to recommend a scale that leaves room for the features you want to preserve.
